Img 4: The meeting place - the bridge. The bridge is the meeting place between the two clients. The casts shadows upon the bridge which shift and morph as day turns to night.

To James Pederson: My apologies, my final submission is plagued with bugs and errors. It is impossible to walk onto the bridge for some reason that I do not know, Kavya had the same issue with her last experiment, and found no solution. I couldn't find one either. My Jonathan Ives Building did not convert into Crysis at all. I was only able to convert a half finished model. There for my elevator could not be input into Crysis. I tried many thousands of times to convert and put it into Crysis but it never turned out. The yellow ball kept appearing in Crysis. I had only one texture on the building, and I made sure everything was correct, however, it never converted correctly. I read the forums and did followed every possible trick but it simply did not work. For the complete model of Jonathan Ive's office refer to the Sketchup Model.

The Denver Art Museum


Precedence for the design of the office for Lady Gaga. The building is elegant, yet in vivid and wild. These aspects can be related to the character of Lady Gaga. I can really imagine Lady Gaga enjoying and embracing this particular building as her own.

I have chosen New York as the "Valley" upon which the two clients houses are to be built on. I chose New York because it's a much more modernised and dynamic environment to work on and also because the 'powerful' structures would belong in a city scape.

Week 3

Exploring shades from light to dark

A majority of the lecture covered shades from light to dark and its importance in significant works of architecture. This lecture was inspiring and got me thinking about how to apply different shades to my model to accentuate its meaning.

Img 2: First person shot on the structure. The area upon which the spot is taken on shows increased intensity in the material(light to dark). This symbolises the increased intensity as one delves into their mind. The level under, symbolises the 'suppression' of negative thoughts and a place to gain new more positive memories through the absorption of the environment and the atmosphere.

Img 3: First person shot as one would approach the building. This shot shows 'open-ness' of the building and its close link the environment - two opposing forces which are seamlessly connected. Note that the current faces of the building are all in shade, however, when approaching from the opposite direction, they are lit by the natural light. Similarly, the sides of the 3 arches have opposing shades of materials(light and dark). This further adds to the electroliquid aggregation.

Img 5: (Night time) Full shot of the building at sea level which highlights the lighting effects and the surrounding landscape. The lights at the night work, not only to light up areas at night, but accentuate the structure through the effects of the shadows which are cast.

Week 2

Parallel Projections

Since the parallel projections involved combining two separate structures, I thought it was appropriate to present them in a poster form where the audience can view which two buildings the structure originated from.


Sketchup and Sandbox

For week 2, students were required to choose one of the parallel projections to develop and put into the crysis environment. Consulting with James(my tutor), we both agreed that the combination of Sigmund Freud and Newtons hypothesis would have the greatest potential.
I did some work on the initial model that I made, adding and removing some parts in google sketchup. I also did alot of work in crysis altering the time of day and most importantly the landform. I altered the land form not only fit the structure, but to compliment it.

Electroliquid Aggregation

The two initial hypothesis are:
-For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
-Humans repress painful memories deep into their minds

The Electroliquid Aggregation hypothesis is:
Repressing certain memories allows space for more memorable moments to be etched in the mind

Week 1

The beginning of a new experiment. Lecture covered converting models from Google Sketch-up into a new engine - Crysis. A crucial part of the week involved correctly downloading and installing the Crysis engine sandbox and play-up.

Hypothesis
Experiment 2 required us to do some research on the three scientists Sigmund Freud, Sir Isaac Newton and Maria Agnesi and produce a set of hypothesis for each which related to the specific character.




We were then to take these hypothesis and develop them into axonometrics using a limited amount of 5 rectangles.

Further more we were to choose one of the hypothesis, develop it on sketchup and import it into sandbox2. I choose the hypothesis from Sigmund Freud ("Humans repress painful memories deep into their minds") because I thought it had the most potential to be an interesting, architectural space.
